BOARD GAMES:
MAKE YOUR OWN GAME BOARD
Draw and color a simple path on poster board. Add pictures that go with a
specific chapter or make a generic board that can be used for any chapter.
Laminate. I make 8 identical boards (enough for a classroom set). If you used
colored poster board you don't have to do as much coloring.
Purchase some simple colored shapes to use for
markers at a craft store/Walmart.
I use old baby wipe containers and make 8 sets.
That is enough for a class playing 3-4 people/board. Fill each container with
markers and game ?'s.
AHEAD OF TIME:
Print off question cards below. These can be used
for a variety of games.
BIOLOGY REVIEW GAME QUESTIONS

OLD SCIENTIST
(Old Maid)
Copy cards with matching definitions and
vocab words plus one old scientist card onto colored cardstock and
laminate.
Shuffle and deal out the deck. Students play in groups of 3-4. When it is
your turn, pick one card from the hand of the any other player. If you get
a match to a card in your hand, lay the two cards face up in front of you
and can pick again. If you don't get a match, the next person chooses a
card, etc.
OBJECT OF GAME: Get rid of all the cards in
your hand by making matches; Person left with the old scientist card
loses.
CONCENTRATION: Remove the "Old
Scientist" card and use remaining cards to play Concentration

others are finishing another assignment?
Connect Four
Students practice vocab/concepts by playing Connect Four |
Purchase several Connect Four game sets. Print out review question
cards above. Students play with a partner taking turns answering questions. If
they answer a question correctly, they get to place a checker in the Connect
Four frame. Missed questions mean no checker.
